Cape Town and the whales

You will stay for seven days. The price for this trip includes private transfers, excursions and accommodations in the Grottbis Nature Reserve including full board. Price: ex 959,- per person

Cape Town-Hermanus/Gansbaai-Cape Town

1st day    Cape Town
You will be taken to your accommodation
5 overnight stays in The Clarence House
room category: superior, incl. breakfast

The Clarence House is located in Cape Town’s calm and fertile district Claremont. You can visit the botanic garden in Kirstenbosch, the Cavendish Mall as well as several restaurants on foot. If you do not want to eat out, your Swiss hosts will prepare a tasty meal for you either according to the menu card or to your wishes. The six rooms in the house will all provide you with a bath room, satellite TV, a mini safe, a mini bar, a hairdryer, a radio, a telephone. You can also brew coffee or make tea in your room. Special features of this house are the comfortable lounge and the small garden with pool.

2nd day    Cape Town
A half-day excursion “City Tours Cape Town”
Today, you will go on half-day city tours to get to know Cape Town. After the collection at about 9 o’clock you will at first see the historic center of Cape Town including the Castle of Good Hope. After that you will visit the District Six and the Bookap district. During a little walking tour you will walk along the Adderley Street to the old house of Parliament and the South African museum. On your way back you will see the Company’s Garden. In former times, the landing ships were supplied here. The walking tour will end at Cape Town’s Green Market Square. A jumble sale is held here every day (except Sunday). You can purchase African clothes and handcraft at cheap prices here. After that you can either go by cable car onto the Table Mountain (this activity is weather permitting – you can buy the tickets in situ) or visit the Waterfront. You will have to agree on that with your tour guide. Afterwards, you will return to your accommodation.

3rd day    Cape Town
A day out at the Cape of Good Hope
After the collection from your Cape Town accommodation at about 9 o’clock you will go via False Bay to the first stop at Simon’s Town. Simon’s Town is a little town and a naval base. You will see historical houses lined up all along the high street. The beach Boulders, which is located south of the town, is a climax of the day, because a colony of penguins is living there. You can watch them from boardwalks. Afterwards, you will go on to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. The high street ends here. After a small ascension you will have a great view onto the False Bay and the Hottentots Mountains. You will have lunch (which is payable in situ) in the Two Ocean Restaurant. Afterwards you have can choose between different activities, dependent on the weather and on the agreement with your tour guide. You can either go to the Sandy Beach at Llandudno, visit the Waterfront or view the Constantia vineyards and the Groot Constantia Museum. You can pay the entrance fee in situ.

4th day    Cape Town
A day out in the wine growing regions
The day out begins between 8:30 and 9 o’clock in your accommodation. At first you will go to Franschhoek, where you will visit the Huguenot Memorial and the museum. You can also go on a walk to see the centre. On your way to Stellenbosch you will drive past the wine growing regions, a very beautiful landscape. Stellenbosch is the second oldest city in South Africa, today it is a university city. There are 122 listed houses and you will get to know the most beautiful ones while going for a walk. You can have lunch here in one of the restaurants (at your own expense). In the afternoon, you will visit two well-known vineyards. You can do a wine tasting at both vineyards (included in the price). You will return to Cape Town at about 5 p.m.

5th day    Cape Town

6th day    Cape Town - Gansbaai
You will be taken from Cape Town to Grootbos Lodge.
2 overnight stays at the Grootbos Lodge incl. full board
The Grootbos Lodge is located in its private nature reserve. You will reside in well-equipped and generous cottages. These cottages are built from natural stone and wood. They are located in a beautiful Fynbos garden. All accommodations provide you with an admirable view on the landscape and the sea. This is the perfect spot to relax! But of course the lodge offers numerous activities as well. A special activity is whale watching (from July until December).

7th day    Gansbaai
The Grootbos Nature Reserve is one the greatest private nature reserves. You can go on a guided hike, go on a ride through the reserve and on the beach or go on a horse trip. Of course, you can also just enjoy the calm and gorgeous nature!

8th day    Gansbaai – Cape Town
You will be taken to the Cape Town Airport in time for your flight.
