You begin your trip to South Africa with your flight.
2nd day Johannesburg
When you arrive at South Africa and all the entry and clearing formalities are done, your guide will expect you and take you to your accommodation.

Johannesburg - Pilgrim's Rest
You will be collected from your accommodation between 6.45 and 7.50 a.m. This depends on your accommodation. At first, you will be driving on the N4 to the east. Near Belfast you will leave the motorway and visit the scenic Mpumalanga. Today, you will see the impressive Blyde River Canyon, which has eroded the landscape at the break up edge to the Lowfeld, the Bourke’s Potholes (which came into existence by erosion) and God’s Window. From here you can enjoy the spectacular panorama on the Blyde River Canyon and its surroundings. After that you will go on to your destination for today, Pilgrim’s Rest. Go for a walk along the Main Street and imagine what it must have been like to live here during the gold rush in South Africa.

4th day Pilgrim’s Rest – Krüger Gate
On your way to the Krüger Park you will visit the Mac Mac Falls. About noon you will arrive at your accommodation where you will have some time on your own before you go on your first safari in South Africa. As your hotel is located right at the Krüger Park, you should always have your camera at the ready, because you might sight interesting animals any time. You will have dinner in a typical boma right beneath South Africa’s starry sky (depends on the weather).

5th day Kruger Gate – Bongani
Right after breakfast you will return to the Krüger Park to go on an extended safari. In the early afternoon you will leave the park and go to the private Mthethomusha Game Reserve. It is located at the edge of the southern Krüger Park. You will have some time on your own and have some tea or coffee. After that you will go on a safari in an open Landover. You will be accompanied by an experienced ranger, of course. This safari will last until night has fallen so that you can experience the South African bush waking up in the dark.

6th day Bongai – Ubizane
Today, you will be woken early to view one of the numerous bushman drawings in this area of South Africa. After breakfast, you will go to Swaziland via Jeppe’s Reef. You will cross this South African land, which is famous for its sugar cane farms and its hilly landscape, and leave it in Golela. Your destination today is the Ubizane Wildlife Reserve near the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi National Park. In the late afternoon, you will go on a safari in an open Landover through the reserve.
Dinner/overnight stay/breakfast in one of the lodges in the Ubizane Wildlife Reserve or a similar accommodation.
7th day Ubizane – Durban
You will start the day by visiting the oldest game reserve in South Africa, the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi National Park. This park is mostly famous for protecting rhinos (white and black rhinos). When you are a little lucky, you will see these animals which appear to be primeval. Next, you will visit the St. Lucia biosphere reserve. You will go on a boat ride on the St. Lucia River where you might see hippos or crocodiles. This whole area of South Africa is also famous for its variety of birds. Afterwards, you will return to the N2 to go to Durban where you will arrive at about 5 p.m. The tour will end here.

The Ridgeview Lodge is located in a calm and yet central area of the district Berea, so you can go to the city centre of the Marine Parade quickly. The 7 rooms are comfortable and will provide you with an air conditioner, TV, phone and other conveniences like a hairdryer, facilities to make tea or coffee, a fruit basket, and so on. Begin the evening in the in-house bar which provides you with a spectacular panorama on the South Africa city and the sea. Later, you have got the choice between more than 30 restaurants. The distance to none of them is bigger than 1 km. So you will surely find a restaurant that will satisfy your personal gusto. The Ridgeview Lodge is a great alternative to the big anonymous hotels at the Marine Parade!
8th day Durban

9th day Port Elizabeth
A day out in the Addo Elephant National Park by Welcome Tours
You will be collected at about 9.30 a.m. to go to the Addo Elephant National Park. The Addo Elephant National Park was founded in 1931 to protect the last 11 elephants in this area of South Africa. Today this South African national park is the home of more than 350 elephants, but also buffalos, rhinos and several antelope species. You will go on extended safaris and see numerous game, when you are lucky. You will have a picnic for lunch (included in the price).
Return to Port Elizabeth at about 4 p.m.
10th day Tour “The Magical Garden Route” by Welcome Tours
Port Elizabeth – Knysna
You will be collected between 8 an 8.15 a.m. and go east to the famous Garden Route. The road leads you through the Tsitsikamma Forests. Here, you find the oldest trees in South Africa. The scenic way runs across the Bloukrans and the Groot River Passto Plettenberg Bay. You will have a short rest here and afterwards go on to your destination for today, Knysna. In the afternoon you will have time to visit the resort at the Knyns Lagoon. Your accommodation is located at the Knysna’s new waterfront. You will find many little shops to go shopping here and in the main road which is only a few minutes from here.

11th day Knysna – Oudtshoorn
Today you will have miscellaneous experiences! At first you will follow the Garden Route via Wilderness to Mossel Bay and visit the famous Post Office Tree. Now you will leave the coast and pass the Robinson Pass to enter the little Karoo, a semi-desert. The scenic contrast between this desert and the fertile Garden Route is very impressive. The destination of this day is Oudtshoorn, the ostrich centre of South Africa. Here, you will visit a South African ostrich farm and learn a lot about these birds. You can also taste a ostrich steak (at you own expenses)! The next visiting station is the famous Cango Caves. You will visit this big and branched stalactite cave with a guide.

12th day Oudtshoorn – Cape Town
Today you will go on through South African semi-desert areas. You will pass the Tradouw Pass and arrive at Swellendam, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in the southern cape area. Afterwards, you will follow the N2 across the Sir Lowry’s Pass. From here you can already see the Table Mountain, if the weather is fine. You will not take long from this point to Cape Town, you will arrive there at 6 p.m.

The Clarence House is located in Cape Town’s calm and fertile district Claremont. You can go on foot to the botanic garden at Kirstenbosch, the Cavendish Mall and several restaurants. If you do not want to go out for dinner, your Swiss hosts will prepare a tasty meal according to the menu or to your wishes. The six rooms all possess a bathroom, satellite TV, a mini safe, a mini bar, a hairdryer, a radio, a telephone and facilities to make tea or coffee. A special feature is the comfortable lounge and a small garden with a pool.
13th day Cape Town
Cape Town is with good reason considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The interior city area is defined by the famous Table Mountain, the Signal Hill, the Lion’s Head and the sea. Cape Town and its surroundings offer numerous activities. When you visit this South Africa city you have go up the Table Mountain, visit the waterfront and the Cape of Good Hope!
14th day: Cape Town
Half day excursion “City tours Cape Town”
Today, you will get to know Cape Town in half day city tours. You will be collected at about 9 a.m. and go to the historic centre of Cape Town. You will pass the Castle of Good Hope and visit District Six and the Bokaap district. During a small walking tour you will walk along the Adderley Street and pass the old parliament and the South African Museum. On your way back you will see the Company’s Garden. In former times it secured the supply of incoming ships. The walking tour will end at Greenmarket Square. There is a jumble sale here every day except on Sundays, where you can cheaply buy South African clothes and craftworks. Afterwards, you can either go up the Table Mountain in a cable car (weather permitting, the tickets can be bought in situ) or visit the waterfront. You will have to agree on this with your guide. After that you will return to your accommodation in Cape Town.
15th day Cape Town
A day out at the Cape of Good Hope You will be collected at about 8 a.m. and pass False Bay on your way to the first stop. Simon’s Town is a small city and a naval base. Historical houses line up along the main road. A highlight is the beach Boulders which is located south from Simon’s Town. A colony of penguins is living on this beach. You can watch them from boardwalks. Afterwards, you will go on to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. You can enjoy a splendid panorama onto the False Bay and the Hottentots Mountains after a small ascension at the end of the main road. You will have lunch at the Two Ocean Restaurant (You can pay in situ). After lunch you can either go to the Sandy Beach at Llandudno, visit the waterfront or visit the Constantia vineyards and the Groot Constantia Museum (you can pay the entrance fees in situ). The activities depend on the weather and the agreements with your guide.
16th day Cape Town
You will be taken to the airport
Cape Town – Frankfurt
Today, you will have to say goodbye to South Africa. Have a nice return flight.
