1st day    Frankfurt – Cape Town
Your trip to the south Africa begins with your flight there.

2nd day    Cape Town
You will take your hired car at the appointed time and go to your accommodation.

1 passenger car, category B (VW Polo or a similar one equipped with coupling, radio tape, A/C, servo steering) by Europcar.

3 overnight stays at The Clarence House
room category: superior, incl. breakfast.

The Clarence House is located in Cape Town’s calm and fertile district Claremont. You can go on foot to the botanic garden in Kirstenbosch, the Cavendish Mall and several restaurants. If you do not want to go out to eat, your Swiss hosts will prepare a meal for you.
The six rooms have a bathroom and are equipped with a satellite TV, a mini safe, a mini bar, a hairdryer, a radio, a telephone and facilities to make tea or coffee. The house also provides a comfortable lounge and a small garden with a pool.

3rd day    Cape Town
Cape Town is with good reason considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The inner city area is defined by the famous Table Mountain, the Signal Hill and the Lion’s Head and the sea.

Cape Town and its surroundings offer numerous activities. If you are in Cape Town, you have to go up the Table Mountain, visit the waterfront and the Cape of Good Hope!

4th day    Cape Town

5th day    Cape Town – Hermanus
You will arrive at Hermanus when you drive along the N2 or the coast road.

1 overnight stay at the Abalone Lodge
room category: superior, incl. breakfast.

The Abalone Lodge is located marvelously at the Sievers Point. From here, you have a panorama onto the sea and the mountains. The rooms and the lounges are equipped tastefully.

6th day    Hermanus – Knysna
Today, you will go on a longer way to the Garden Route.

4 overnight stays at the Fish Eagle Lodge, incl. breakfast.
The Fish Eagle Lodge is located on a mountain above the Knysna lagoon. It provides you with a splendid view onto the lagoon and the surrounding mountains. The rooms are distributed onto several houses which are surrounded by a beautiful garden. They have got a bathroom (with a bath and a separate shower) and are equipped with a fridge, facilities to make coffee or tea and a balcony or a patio. The lodge is a perfect accommodation at the Garden Route! Your hosts are very nice and will be able to give you good advice on what to do in Knysna and the surrounding area.

7th day    Knysna
You will have time on your own. When you stay at the Garden Route you can alternate active days and days you spend with swimming. You can e.g. go on the steam train Outeniqua Choo-Tjoo from Knysna to George, go on a boat trip in the Knysna Lagoon or visit the Tsitsikamma National Park to see the last giant trees of South Africa – there are innumerable activities!
Nearby and a bit further away, there are splendid beaches you can often almost use all alone. They invite you to go swimming or bathe in the sun.

8th day    Knysna

10th day    Knysna – Addo Elephant National Park
When you follow the N2 to the east, you will arrive at the Addo Elephant National Park.

2 overnight stays in a restcamp
room category: bungalow, without board.
The Addo Elephant National Park was founded in 1931 to protect the remaining 11 elephants in this area. Today, there are more than 350 elephants in the national park and buffalos, rhinos and several species of antelopes. You can go on safaris in your own car or participate in the guided safaris. You can book and pay them there.

11th day    Addo Elephant National Park
You will have some time on your own. Go on safaris in the national park. There is a watering hole right by the restcamp. Many elephants use it for drinking.

12th day    Addo Elephant National Park – Kenton-on-Sea
You will go via Paterson to arrive at Kenton-on-Sea.

2 overnight stays at the Kariega Game Reserve
room category: Main Lodge, incl. full board.

At Kariega, you will live in one of the 26 framehouse, which run along the upper edge of a river bed. You will have magnificent views onto the river valley from your private patio. Most houses are equipped with a kitchen. A restaurant and a swimming pool belong to the offers for all guests.

13th day    Kenton-on-Sea
You will have time on your own. The private Kariega nature reserve is located in a scenic landscape. You will be able to discover different kinds of game, like antelopes, zebras and giraffes, on foot, on a safari or on a boat trip (one activity is included in the price, but you can book and pay other ones there). You can easily reach Kenton-on-Sea’s fantastic beaches by car.

14th day    Kenton-on-Sea – East London
You will go further east to arrive at East London.

2 overnight stays at Inkwenkwezi
room category: bush camp, incl. full board.

The Inkwenkwezi Game Reserve has a size of 4,000 ha and is located about 35km east of East London. It is a home for several kinds of game, like lions, rhinos, giraffes and several species of antelopes. The intimate bush camp can only accommodate 12 guests. You will live in safari tents. They stand on wooden platforms and have got a private patio and a shower/WC.

15th day    East London
You will stay at the Inkwenkwezi Game Reserve. You can go on safaris every day in the morning and in the evening. An experienced ranger will accompany you. You can also go on a safari on foot or go on a canoe tour.

16th day    East London
You will return your hired car at the airport.

East London – Frankfurt
Today you will have to say goodbye to South Africa. Have a nice return flight.

17th day    arrival.

    Locally, you will have to pay: additional drivers (ZAR 100.00 per person), ZAR 400.00 for a fuel deposit, ZAR 20.00 one-time arrangement fee, ZAR 100.00 arrangement fee in case of damage.
    Minimum age 23 years (exception: When the driver has got his driver’s license for at least 2 years, he may be younger. But then you will have to pay an additional fee of ZAR 50.00 per day).
    One way rental fees will accrue as follows: within South Africa: ZAR 250.00 (When the hiring place and the returning place have no distance bigger than 150km between them, you one way rental fee will not accrue; Exception: If you hire the car at the Garden Route (Port Elizabeth, George) and return it in Cape Town, a one way rental fee of ZAR 400.00 will accrue; South Africa – Namibia ZAR 2200.00; South Africa – Botswana ZAR 2700.00 (if you plan to cross a border, you will have to mention this when you book the trip!)
    If you do not keep to the traffic rules, your credit card will be debited with the fee and a arrangement fee of ZAR 100.00.
    Water damages and damages at the chassis are not covered by the insurance.
    Please notice that insurance cover is lost if the damages are caused by a not registered driver, deliberate or grossly negligent action or driving on unsuitable roads.
    You will take the car on the second day in Cape Town and return it on the sixteenth day in East London.
