Cape Town`s Gay Pride 2009
The Cape Town Pride Parade danced through the streets of Cape Town on Saturday 28 February 2009, celebrating homosexuality and tolerance.
Roughly 5 000 walkers and on-lookers took part, including drag queens, leather men and muscle Marys. Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender marchers, along with family and friends, paraded through the Mother City on a sweltering hot Saturday to celebrate this year's Pride.
The Parade was followed by a carnival near the city’s ‘Pink Block’ where revelers prepared for the night’s partying.
The 2009 Cape Town Pride Festival concluded with a number of parties around the city, including the official ‘Juicy’ after party which saw the dance floor shake until the early hours of the morning.
