Pink Elephant Safaris - Gayway to Afrika
Safari in the Kruger National Park

Hotel tip: The rest camps in the Krüger National Parks from A-Z

Heavy is the head...

What are rest camps?
The nationally controlled rest camps in the Krüger National Park are like little villages with a central place, a supermarket, a restaurant and mostly a petrol station.
At night, the entrances of the rest camps are closed.

The accommodations mostly are bungalows and rondavels (circular huts with a thatch), which are distributed in the garden. Their size and equipment differs, but every accommodation has got a bath/WC and a bedroom. They are often equipped with a fridge and an electric kettle, some also with kitchen utensils, almost always with an air conditioning system.
You will be provided with bedclothes, towels and soap.

Board
In rest camps you feed yourself.
But every rest camp also has got a restaurant or a cafeteria.
You can buy your food in the shop and broil it on your own grill in front of your accommodation.
You should bring one or two sets of cutlery and plates.
In the shop you can buy beverages, phone cards, cigarettes, body care products and much more.

Activities
The most accommodations offer guided excursions like game drives, night drives, hikes, bush evening with a barbecue and slide show to the guests.

Entry
The entry into the Krüger National Park is with costs!
Currently: Rand 120.- per day
Subject to alterations!!!

ITR tip:
Such rest camps offer guests who have more time to spend (3-5 days) a cheap possibility to explore and enjoy the Krüger National Park.
The room have always been clean but not luxurious until now!!!
If you expect luxury, you should rather stay in a private game reserve.
Rest camps are ideal for rustic romance with like-minded people!
